Author Visit - Megan Kopp!

Hello Homeschoolers,

The Library is hosting author Megan Kopp on Tuesday, April 19, 2011. Her
presentation is geared for a Grade 3/4 audience.

The presentation is a step-by-step discussion of what it takes to produce
a non-fiction, children's book - from timelines to research to first draft
to editing to mock-up. It will include tips and tricks for gathering
facts, writing outlines, finishing a draft, and accepting constructive
comments from an editor. She will use actual samples from her work and
will set aside time for questions.

Megan Kopp has been a freelance writer for more than 13 years. She has
over 100 published, non-fiction articles in children's magazines such as:
YES Mag: The Science Magazine for Adventurous Minds; KNOW: The Science
Magazine for Curious Minds; Kayak: Canada's History Magazine for Kids;
Cobblestone; and Odyssey. Megan has four non-fiction books published by
Capstone Press. Her fifth Capstone book will be out Fall 2011. She also
has six titles in the works with Weigl Education Publisher, Ltd. These
books will also be available Fall 2011.

I have availability in the afternoon session from 1:00 to 2:00 pm. Are any
of you interested in bringing your children down for this session? There
will also be a Grade 3 class from a local school in attendance. If you are
